Manchester United set to miss £50m target as they accept Real Madrid move

Manchester United’s bid to strengthen at centre-back has just been dealt another blow with a £50m target agreeing to a move elsewhere.

Ineos must be frustrated this summer with each target proving too expensive or having their eyes set on different destinations.

We’ve already seen Jarrad Branthwaite prove too expensive, with Everton unwilling to compromise on a deal or drop from their £70m valuation.

Along with this, a move by Jean-Clair Todibo was ruled illegal by UEFA, given that Ineos own both Manchester United and Nice.

Because of this, new targets are being prioritized, but now it looks like United are about to miss out on another.

Leny Yoro agrees to move to Real Madrid

One defensive target that fans would have loved for Manchester United to sign this summer is Lille’s Leny Yoro, however, there was always the feeling that this move would be difficult to complete.

That’s because the 19-year-old Frenchman has always been seen as favoring a move to join Real Madrid, and that’s exactly what appears to be happening.

According to a report by French outlet Sports Zone, Yoro has now reached an agreement with Los Blancos.

It then adds that the teenager only wanted Madrid and could even wait a year to complete his move should the Champions League winners fail to make a move this summer, his £50m price tag could cause some problems.

United, Liverpool and Bayern are all said to be still pushing in the hope that Yoro changes his mind, although that seems quite unlikely.

Yoro’s choice of Real Madrid cannot come as a shock to Manchester United

Losing out on another top target is a blow for United, but it comes as no surprise given Yoro has always been reported to want a move to Madrid, which is seen as his dream.

He will play there with some of his future French international team-mates and has the chance to follow in the footsteps of Raphael Varane, who Madrid consider a regen.

If Ineos are on, they will have seen this coming and have more options to recruit this summer.

Names like Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori and Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio are still available and would be excellent additions.

It’s time for Ineos to move on, with pre-season just weeks away.
