Former Liverpool player looked unrecognizable after stunning weight loss and ‘years of struggle’

Former Liverpool hardman Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock turned heads last year after his remarkable weight loss journey after shedding an impressive stone. The former Anfield cop has faced his battle against weight after tipping the scales at 27 stone during the pandemic, admitting he is “getting bigger and bigger”.

Taking decisive action, Ruddock underwent gastric sleeve surgery in 2022 and took to social media to share his progress a year later. He tweeted about his transformation, saying, “After years of struggling with my weight, I’ve decided it’s finally time to take action,” and detailed his experience with @WeAreTransform_, celebrating an amazing 93lbs loss.

Ruddock was eager to embrace this new beginning, looking forward to what he called the next “chapter” after the operation. The football world rallied around Ruddock’s success and Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler chimed in with a supportive ‘Love it Raze’.

Former Celtic and Wales striker John Hartson and Ray Parlour, once of Arsenal, also joined in the chorus of praise, with Hartson remarking that Ruddock is “Looking a million dollars big fella” and Parlor congratulating him on “Well done Big Razor”.

Ruddock’s tenure at Liverpool, following his move from Tottenham Hotspur in 1993, saw him don the red shirt for five seasons. He made 115 appearances and lifted the League Cup in 1995.

“After years of struggling with my weight, I decided it was finally time to take action,” Ruddock said. “Last year I had gastric sleeve surgery with @WeAreTransform_ and I’m well on my weight loss journey, 93 lbs to date. This is a new beginning and I am excited about this new chapter.”
