Collapsed Peak District walker ‘lucky’ to be found

A walker has been rescued after he collapsed on Kinder Scout in the Peak District.

The Edale Mountain Rescue team said they were called to the Nether Tor area at 19:34 BST on Thursday to reports that a person was unconscious.

In a social media post, the team said the walker was found by a passing group who raised the alarm.

They said the walker was “incredibly lucky” to have been spotted.

The walker recovered easily by the time volunteers reached the top of Golden Clough, the team said.

An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene and the victim was taken to Sheffield Northern General Hospital.

The team said they were called back to Stanage Edge, north of Hathersage, at 11.34pm on Friday to reports that a person had been seriously injured in a fall and had suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries.

The victim was said to have been transferred to an ambulance and taken to hospital.
