Michael Mosley’s wife Dr Clare Bailey sends a powerful message

Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, the widow of the late TV doctor Michael Mosley, said she wanted to “carry on the work that gave Michael and me so much joy”. The broadcaster, credited with popularizing the 5:2 diet, died earlier this month aged 67 after disappearing on the Greek island of Symi.

His body was found in a rocky area near Agia Marina beach on June 9 and a Greek police spokeswoman, Konstantia Dimoglidou, told the BBC he died of natural causes. In an Instagram post on Saturday, Dr Bailey Mosley said the “outpouring of love” her family received after her husband’s death “has meant a huge amount”.

She added: “I’m going to be quiet for a while. I’m sure you’ll understand. But I’ll be back here soon.

“I really want to continue the work that has given Michael and me so much joy and such a feeling. Once again, thank you for so kindly respecting my family’s privacy.

“Michael was an extraordinary man. Thank you for viewing this as well. We miss him so much.”

The TV personality was with his wife and friends on Agios Nikolaos beach on June 5 before he embarked on a solo walk in the center of the island and disappeared. Mosley’s four children joined their mother, a family physician and cookbook writer, to help with the search effort.

Those paying tribute after Mosley’s death included TV chef Jamie Oliver, who called the news “absolutely devastating”, and physicist and TV presenter Brian Cox, who said Mosley was a “genuinely lovely man ” which helped him when he started his television. Career.

Dr Bailey Mosley has been hosting theater performance tours with her husband, and in May they attended the Hay Festival, where Mosley presented a special edition of her Radio 4 series and podcast Just One Thing. Mosley first trained as a doctor in London before moving into the media world, becoming a presenter, documentary maker, author and columnist.
