The police arrest the driver for the fatal accident

Police have arrested a 34-year-old man from Andrews Farm in connection with a crash that killed a motorcyclist this morning.

Patrols saw the man in a maroon Nissan Skyline matching the description of the car wanted following the crash driving on the Northern Expressway at 3.30 this afternoon.

Police say it is the same Skyline involved in the crash that claimed the life of a young man.

At around 6.45am this morning, 19-year-old Joshua Daddow was riding his motorbike on the Salisbury Hwy at Dry Creek when a 1990s Nissan Skyline pulled out and cut him off or forced the motorcyclist to swerve.

Witnesses claim they saw the Skyline pull out in front of the motorcyclist, a 19-year-old from West Lakes, who was on L plates.

“I just saw this Skyline come and cut all four lanes at once and that’s when the motorcycle went down,” said witness Ben Robertson.

Other witnesses said they noticed Skyline driving erratically.

“The bike tried to miss the driver, he went over the rough road,” said witness Paul Schubert.

The motorcyclist then crashed, and witnesses say they saw him hit his head on a guardrail.

Five other drivers stopped to help the rider who was rushed to Lyell McEwin Hospital.

He died on arrival.

Police believe the driver of the Nissan Skyline may not have known the crash had occurred.

“The driver of the Nissan may not be aware of the collision and there may not be any damage to the rear of the Nissan, but what is important is that we need to speak to the driver of the vehicle,” SA Police Inspector Stuart McLean. Said the Traffic Support Branch.

“We are appealing for the driver of a silver or brown Nissan Skyline who was seen traveling along Bolivar Rd at approximately 6.45am this morning.”

“That car was seen making a left turn from Bolivar Rd onto Port Wakefield Rd, continue along Port Wakefield Rd, then make a right turn onto Salisbury Highway.”

Mr Daddow’s family visited the scene of the car crash this afternoon.

“My family is completely devastated,” said his brother, Ryan Daddow.

“He was the baby of the family apart from my little sister, he was much loved and will be greatly missed.”

The Skyline driver is now being questioned by police and his car has been impounded and will undergo a forensic examination.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact BankSA Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
