A section of Circular Road East and Morningside Road was closed for forensic examinations as officers were seen removing evidence from an address on the street. Officers remain in the area carrying out witness and CCTV inquiries and it is believed the cordon could be in place until midnight.

The injured man, a 30-year-old man from Norris Green, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and affray.

Detective Inspector Carla Cross said: “Knife crime can have absolutely devastating consequences for victims, their families and friends and those who carry them. Statistics show that you are much more likely to be a victim of knife crime if you carry a knife yourself.

“Those criminals who carry them have no place in our communities.

“Every day we carry out stop checks, warrants and field searches to get knives off our streets, but the assistance of members of the public who come forward with information about where they are stored and who carries them is vital to keeping families and residents safe “.

Det Insp Cross added: “If you saw any part of the incident on Circular Road East after 3pm today or may have captured dashcam or CCTV footage of those involved, please contact us.

“If you have any information, including who carries, uses or stores knives or guns, please come forward so we can continue to disrupt criminals and bring them to justice.”
