Hull FC suffered a triple blow during their clash with Warrington Wolves

Hull FC suffered a triple blow to their strike group during their Round 15 clash with Warrington Wolves on Saturday afternoon, with Cam Scott, Jack Ashworth and Ligi Sao all forced off.

Second-back Scott was the first of the trio to leave the pitch, doing so in the 18th minute with a hamstring problem. He never came on, and at the start of the second half, he turned up in a club tracksuit with the game over.

The 24-year-old was replaced by Ashworth, who appeared to accidentally collide with team-mate Sao as they tried to recover, with Warrington scoring a try through Danny Walker early in the second half.

The Wire’s Josh Thewlis had to wait to convert that try as Ashworth received treatment from FC’s medical staff, with the former Huddersfield Giants man resuming what the Sky Sports commentary team described as a “turn “severe” in the right ankle.

And just minutes after Ashworth carefully limped off the pitch, loose forward Sao followed suit.

Herman Ese’s and Yusuf Aydin returned to the field to replace Ashworth and Sao respectively, FC with just one man on the bench for the final 20 minutes in search of a second straight win.

Early in the contest, Airlie Birds player Tom Briscoe called for an HIA, which he will pass. And Brad Fash had to be patched up, having to change his shirt midway through the first half with a cut near his eye that was bleeding.

At the time of writing there are 14 minutes left in East Yorkshire and it’s a one score ball game with visitors Warrington currently 18-12 ahead.

Sam Burgess’s side were 12-0 up at half-time and after Hull youngster Denive Balmforth got them on the scoreboard with a breakaway try, that four-pointer from Walker – which led to Ashworth’s injury – combined with Thewlis’ conversion made it 18. -6 to the good.

Liam Sutcliffe brought the hosts back into the game in round 15 and Ben Reynolds’ successful conversion brought the score back to 18-12.
