Severe disruption at Manchester Airport after power cut | UK news

Sunday 23 June 2024 06:20 UK

All flights departing from Manchester Airport are facing severe cancellations and delays after a power cut in the area.

It is understood that a problem with the electricity supply in the local area has affected the airport and a number of other buildings.

A Manchester Airport spokesman said: “A significant number of flights today are likely to be canceled and passengers expecting to travel today are advised not to come to the airport without first checking with the airline.”

Sky News understands power is back on but the impact will affect services throughout the day as the airport returns to service.

Terminals 1 and 2 are severely damaged, while Terminal 3 is operational.

Passengers already at the airport face significant delays and possible cancellations, with passengers on subsequent flights who have not yet traveled to the airport advised not to travel to the airport without checking first.

Airlines will arrange any further travel for those whose flights are cancelled.

The airport is working to resume all services as soon as possible, however, they are currently unable to provide a timeline.

Inbound flights are less affected, but there are some delays at Border Control.
