Chelsea sign young Brazilian, Newcastle ‘closer to Calvert-Lewin’, Olise to Bayern latest

More about the Calvert-Lewin transfer

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has long been linked with a move to St James’ Park.

Newcastle finally seem to be making moves to get over the line.

The Telegraph reported that the Magpies’ interest in Calvert-Lewin dates back to 2021.

The striker has just one year left on his contract at Goodison Park and is understood to be keen on a move to Tyneside.

His contract is likely to force Everton’s hand as they look to use the 11-time England international to shift their focus to their Financial Fair Play concerns.

Negotiations between the clubs are reported to be ongoing, but a fee has yet to be set.

Newcastle are closing in on the Calvert-Lewin deal

Newcastle are close to signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton, meaning the striker’s fee will strengthen their profit and sustainability rules.

This means Man Utd’s hopes of signing Jarrad Branthwaite could be dashed.

Sean Dyche’s side will therefore be in no rush to sell Branthwaite, as the cash from selling Calvert-Lewin would improve the chances of avoiding a potential breach.

This means United will have to meet the Toffees’ £70m price tag if they want Branthwaite.

Agreement Olise agreed

Bayern Munich informed Crystal Palace yesterday of the formal process of triggering Michael Olise’s release clause.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a fixed fee of £45m has been agreed with Palace plus £5m in add-ons.

Personal terms have been agreed on a five-year deal.

Man Utd ‘open talks’ with French kid

Man Utd have ‘made contact’ with Lille over signing defender Leny Yoro, according to reports.

According to Sky Sports, Man Utd will not make another attempt to sign Jarrad Branthwaite, 21, unless Everton give them assurances that they are willing to negotiate the £70m fee.

The Red Devils are now looking at alternative options as they try to avoid a long-running saga involving Branthwaite.

Frenchman Yoro, 18, is one of those at the front of the queue after an impressive season with Lille.

The talented youngster made his debut for the Ligue 1 club just a day after turning 16.

He has already amassed 60 first-team caps and broken into France’s U21 squad.

Olise transfer update

If you’re late to the party, here’s Michael Olise’s recap…

Crystal Palace star is heading to Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace for £55million.

The France under-21 international has turned down Chelsea, Newcastle and a massive new offer from Palace to join Vincent Kompany at Bayern.

The German giants have met the south London club’s £55million release clause, while the winger will pay wages of £220,000-a-week.

It is the second time Olise has decided against joining Chelsea, while Palace are understood to have gone all out to keep hold of their star player.

While the departure is a blow for Palace, manager Oliver Glasner will have the funds to bring in new players.

West Ham fail bid for Wolves captain

Wolves have rejected a bid from West Ham United for captain Max Kilman.

The Hammers have failed with a £25m bid for the defender.

Wolves rejected a £30million bid from Napoli a year ago for Kilman.

The centre-half is valued at £45m and the club will only sell once that offer is met.

Wolves face the need to make a big sale to alleviate financial fair play concerns.
