Security queue at Birmingham airport live – passengers say it’s ‘hectic’ and they’re ‘tired’

Passengers are once again reporting long queue delays to get through security on Sunday (June 23), with the usual weekend waits. Some passengers reported delays of up to two hours after arriving at the airport in the early hours.

And there are several reports of bag scanning machines being out of service on Sunday, adding to the delays. BirminghamLive reported news updates on 100ml liquids and how they should be carried through the airport.

And we asked BHX a series of questions about the ongoing security issues to try to give you, our readers, insight into what’s happening, why it’s happening, and whether it’s likely to improve as we go along towards the peak season around the school holidays, which are fast approaching in mid to late July.

There are now several temporary “tent” structures outside the airport to at least protect waiting passengers from the sun or rain. Updates will follow below as we monitor what’s happening at BHX…

“Two hours from baggage drop to going through security”

A passenger took to X to express his views on the security queue at Birmingham Airport on Sunday morning. Nick from Stourport-on-Severn is flying to Cyprus with his family and was caught in queues early today (Sunday 23 June).

He posted: “Almost 2 hours from bag drop to going through security any idea why all the cars are not running Birmingham Airport? It would have been faster if everything had worked.”
