A MAN was attacked by a group in Keresley End, prompting an appeal from Warwickshire Police.

The victim – a man in his 60s – was reported to have been involved in an altercation after he was confronted by a group of men riding dirt bikes in Rathbone Close, near the junction with Somers Road, at around 4pm :10, Thursday.

The victim reported being assaulted by one of the men before another attacked him with a hammer.

A 35-year-old man and a 28-year-old man, both from the Nuneaton area, have been arrested on suspicion of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Inspector Paul Sartoris, of Warwickshire Police CID, said: “This was an appalling attack on a man who confronted a group of mountain bikers in an anti-social manner.

“Luckily he wasn’t seriously injured but he was left with some nasty cuts on his face and was badly shaken.

“We have identified several suspects that we are actively looking for. In the meantime, it is important to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage from the area around the time of the incident.”
