Delays for tram passengers after overtaking works stop services

West Midlands Metro posted a message on social media at around 7.30am on Sunday to inform commuters that trams were not running between Wolverhampton station and Edgbaston Village due to overdue works.

It also said tram tickets would be accepted on bus services to Birmingham city center and West Midlands Railway services.

A spokesman for West Midlands Metro said: “Delay to start operation due to outdated engineering works.

“Trams are not currently running between Wolverhampton station and Edgbaston village.

“Tickets accepted on NX West Midlands 74 and Birmingham city center buses and West Midlands Railway services.”

Later updates at 7:45 and 9:10 also included bus 79 as another where tickets would be valid.

A West Midlands Metro spokesman said: “Trams are still not running between Wolverhampton station and Edgbaston Village.

“Tickets are accepted on NX West Midlands buses 74, 79 and from Birmingham city center and on West Midlands Railway services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.”
