Flights arriving due to landing at Manchester Airport being diverted

Some flights arriving at Manchester Airport are diverted to other airports.

It comes after a “major” power outage affected the airport and surrounding areas at around 6.30am today, Sunday 23 June. In the latest statement, issued at around 8.45am, a Manchester Airport spokesman advised passengers traveling from Terminals 1 or 2 today not to come to the airport “until further notice and to contact their airlines” .




He added that a number of arriving flights are being diverted to other airports.

A spokesman said: “All those due to pick up passengers at the airport are advised to check before travelling. We apologize for any inconvenience and aim to restore normal service as soon as possible.”

The statement also said that those traveling from Terminal 3 “should arrive at the airport as usual unless advised otherwise by the airline, but may be affected by delays”. However, he said some suitcases may not be on those flights.

He added: “We are working to get passengers already at the airport onto their flights. The disruption caused by the disruption means that in some cases bags may not be on those flights.
