Darwin Nunez stunning new look as Liverpool star prepares for Copa America

Liverpool star Darwin Nunez has shown off his new haircut ahead of Uruguay’s Copa America campaign, which kicks off in the United States on Sunday night. The 24-year-old endured a mixed 2023/24 season at Anfield, although he still managed to score 18 goals and provide 13 assists from 54 appearances in all competitions.

In the last six Premier League games of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure, Nunez has started just once, with his last goal of the most recent campaign coming against Sheffield United at the start of April. Outbound links began to emerge as a result, and Nunez then deleted all of his Liverpool-related posts from Instagram, further fueling the fire.

However, it currently looks like Arne Slot will have Nunez in his squad for the 2024/25 season, with very little talk of a move elsewhere. Just weeks after Slot’s appointment was confirmed, Nunez sent a clear message to the club’s new head coach by scoring a hat-trick in Uruguay’s 4-0 win over Mexico.

Fresh from that message to Slot, Nunez shocked Liverpool fans with his latest new hairstyle, captured in training in Uruguay. The former Benfica man has previously sported cornrows, but has now added a new feature to that with the tight ball at the base of his head.

With the legendary strikers that have played for Uruguay in recent years, including former Liverpool player Luis Suarez, there is certainly pressure on Nunez’s shoulders to deliver. Fortunately, he is in much better form for his country, his hat-trick earlier this month taking his tally to eight goals and three assists in just seven World Cup appearances.

With that in mind, Suarez has already backed Nunez ahead of their country’s Copa America, which kicks off in the early hours of Monday morning in the UK. “Today he is one of the best center forwards in the world,” Suarez told AUF TV, quoted by ESPN when asked about Nunez. “I like how he plays and I like watching him.
