Lopick, Pletcher take top honors in Chef Joe’s Omelette Race

The leaders reached the halfway mark of the Joe Thomas Mile at Bill Power Stadium on Saturday morning. Uniontown graduate Parker King (199) surged to the lead over the final two laps to finish first in 5:10.16.

Brent Lopick held off several teenagers to finish first Saturday morning in the Chef Joe’s Omelet 5K race.

Lopick ran the course that started and finished at the Bill Power Stadium track and covered the Sheepskin course in 19:10.25.

Alan Arnold of Farmington was second in 19:36.03 and Brock Mace of McClellandtown was third in 19:51.42.

Hopwood’s Christi Pletcher won the women’s 5K in 24:11.09. Michelle Haines of Morgantown, W.Va., was second in 24:53.35, and Smock’s Amy Legaza was third in 25:08.14.

Parker King, a recent Uniontown graduate who will attend High Point University in the fall, won the Joe Thomas Mile in 5:10.16. Arnold was second in 5:10.40, while Rudi Wareham was third in 5:26.92.

Farmington’s Martha Mow won the women’s mile in 6:55.99. Hopwood’s Jaden Badenhorst was second in 6:59.84. Mount Pleasant’s Jacynth Drumiller was third in the mile in 7:11.70 and won the women’s 5K with a time of 37:40.63.

Connellsville’s Jim Downey successfully defended his 5K walking title with a winning time of 35:46.08.
