Fatal fire east of Toronto being investigated as homicide: police

Toronto police have launched a homicide investigation after a fire at an east-end unit killed one person.

Officers responded to a call for an active fire in the area of ​​Kennedy Road and Lawrence Avenue East shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday.

Police say emergency services arrived at the scene and found the body of a person inside the facility. The victim was identified as a 26-year-old man from Toronto.

Investigators say a vehicle was seen fleeing the area and the occupants should be considered armed and dangerous.

The vehicle is described as a white 2021 Acura RDX with Ontario license plate CCPC 739 and was reported stolen out of Peel Region.
