Barnet Council funding for community events

Organizations can apply between £500 and £1,000, says a cabinet member

A Barnet Council Labor cabinet member is calling on community groups to get involved in the borough’s calendar of community events, with the opportunity to apply for event funding.

Organizations can apply between £500 and £1,000 to organize an event in connection with either Silver Week (October 1-7 – Deadline for entries – August 19;) or Black History Month (October – deadline August 31).

Cabinet member for culture, arts, leisure and sport Anne Clarke said: “Barnet Council used to focus our community calendar only on the big events at the Town Hall. This meant that all too often, events were about our communities, not them.

“But Barnet Labor’s approach is to work to ensure that our community events are driven by our communities themselves. I encourage as many relevant organizations as possible to apply.”
