The Google app will disappear from millions of devices for months

Google is shutting down one of its popular apps tomorrow. The app will disappear from millions of UK devices when it shuts down for good on Monday 24 June.

Users with accounts will have a few extra days to move their content after the app shuts down. The app was launched in 2018, but its function is now merged with Youtube.

Google announced it would shut down its podcast app Google Podcasts last September. He was jailed in the US in April.

People using Google Podcasts can transfer their show subscriptions to YouTube Music or export them for use in another podcast app. They will have until the end of June to make any transfer.

Google Podcasts Manager will continue to run until June 29 so users can transfer their accounts to Youtube Music. One user writes on X: “I don’t care if I sound like a grandpa.

“Why does every music service want me to listen to podcasts on their app so desperately? I don’t want to use my music app for podcasts. I want them to be separate. It’s better when they’re separate.”
