The animal hospital provides support rather to Birmingham Dogs Home

BIRMINGHAM Dogs Home has teamed up with a Solihull vet to help care for the most vulnerable dogs.

Willows Veterinary Center and Referral Service has signed an initial one-year partnership with the charity to increase its support for those who need an extra helping paw.

The vet currently provides additional specialist support for complex cases and some out-of-hours care to the 200 dogs living in the two rescue centres, including the Catherine-de-Barnes site.

Willows Hospital Director Tom Reilly said: “We have been working closely with Birmingham Dogs Home over the past year and our team have been really moved by the amazing work this charity does in caring for dogs who have had such wonderful lives difficult.

“Many of the dogs I take in as strays have untreated medical conditions and are very stupid.

“We already work closely with the charity’s veterinary team to provide additional specialist support for complex cases, however we felt compelled to do even more.

“So now our whole team is committed to doing everything we can to provide the best medical care possible, to give the dogs who have already suffered so much the best chance of a long and healthy life .”

Birmingham Dogs Home helps to rescue, rehome and rehome all stray and abandoned dogs in the West Midlands and South Staffordshire area, caring for around 2,000 dogs each year.

Established in 1892, the charity receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of its supporters while providing this essential service.

Fi Harrison, head of fundraising and communications at the charity, said: “We are delighted that Willows have shown their commitment to helping us as Platinum Business Patrons.

“As well as providing world-class care for some of our most seriously ill dogs, Willows will also be supporting us in many other ways to help raise awareness for our cause.

“They are a fantastic team and we are excited to work together even more closely.”
