The new CEO will lead the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce

The new CEO of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce has been announced today.

John Brown will step into the role from early July after a successful career with notable brands such as Virgin, lululemon and GoPro.

Mr Brown brings over 15 years of business experience, committed to “supporting, championing and delivering across the whole Cornish economy”.

Cornwall Chamber of Commerce is an independent, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to represent Cornwall’s businesses at all levels, from local to international.

Mr Brown takes over from outgoing CEO Kim Conchie, who is stepping down after 12 years in the role.

Laura Whyte, Board Chair of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, said: “John has incredible drive.

“Through his experience in communications and brand activism, he will continue to put the Chamber at the forefront of the business sector.

“Being in the shoes of business owners, John can appreciate the challenges they face and the support they need.”

Mr Brown said: “I want the world to know that Cornwall is the blueprint for the future economy and to invest, learn and collaborate with every element of our rich business tapestry.

“It is my great privilege to support, fight and deliver across the whole Cornish economy.

“From exciting micro-businesses to pioneering corporations.”

In the meantime, Mr Conchie will remain an active figure in Cornwall’s business community, continuing as part of the chamber’s board and holding several business and educational roles.

He said: “I have had an amazing 12 years at Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.

“I am delighted with John’s appointment and delighted that the Chamber will be led by someone of such a high caliber and with such a passion for growth.

“This is the start of an exciting new chapter for Cornwall’s business community.”

Mr Brown is expected to meet chamber members at events throughout July, including the chamber’s Connected Lunch on July 3 and the Cornwall Business Fair on July 17.
