Norwich City are targeting a loan deal for Liverpool prospect Bobby Clark

Norwich City are among the clubs interested in a loan move for Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark, says DaveOCKOP.

Norwich City enter the 2024/25 campaign under the new management of Johannes Hoff Thorup, having decided to part ways with David Wagner at the end of their previous campaign.

After earning a place in the play-offs and holding Leeds United to a draw in the first leg, a humiliating defeat next time around saw their play-off promotion hopes dashed.

The focus now turns to next season and the Canaries have already been active on the transfer front. Now a new player has been connected with a Carrow Road switch.

According to a report from DaveOCKOP, Norwich City are among the admirers of Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark.

The 19-year-old is attracting plenty of loan interest with RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg and a number of Championship clubs keen to land him. However, in this report, the Canaries are the only second-tier team named.

Derby County were previously said to hold a long-term interest. Clark’s destination remains to be decided, however, as Arne Slot settles at Anfield.

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Strong competition

Norwich City may be keen to bring Clark to Norfolk on a temporary basis, but with Leipzig and Salzburg keen on his services, getting a deal over the line could be easier said than done.

Championship fans will be hoping to beat the Canaries too, particularly Derby County, if their long-term admiration turns into a concrete move this summer.

While the offers for Leipzig and the Championship are attractive, you have to think that the interest from Salzburg will be the hardest to turn down. They are now managed by Pep Ljinders, who was Jurgen Klopp’s No.2 at Anfield, so Clark will already have worked closely with him.

If Liverpool decide an in-house move would be best for their young midfielder, Norwich City should fancy their chances of getting a deal over the line if they step up their pursuit.

Thorup’s midfield options

New boss Thorup will want to make an impact on his team in his first window at the helm, and midfield is one area where there could be a bit of change.

Jacob Lungi Sorensen has seen an option triggered so he joins Liam Gibbs and Kenny McLean in being signed to the Canaries after the end of this summer.

The same goes for Gabriel Sara and Marcelino Nunez, but both have attracted interest from other clubs and could very well earn a move away from Norwich City ahead of next season.

Exits for both would leave the Championship club in dire need of other midfield options. Time will tell exactly what summer brings for the highly regarded duo.
