Coventry man named and charged after ‘trying to break into cars’

A man has been charged with ‘attempting to break into cars’ in Coventry. He will appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court in July.

Police were called to reports of a man trying car door handles on Sylvia Bird Close. Kevin Escott, from Coventry, was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday, June 23).



Escott, 49, was charged with theft from a motor vehicle following the incident yesterday (June 23). He was also charged with being fitted for burglary, West Midlands Police said.

Escott is due to appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 31. He has been released on bail until that date, West Midlands Police said.
