Everton ‘ready to move’ for Leeds United ace amid Jack Harrison deal

Leeds United have a job on their hands to keep Wilfried Gnonto at Elland Road this summer. Nottingham Forest are keen to sign the Italian winger, but they are not the only Premier League club said to be interested in the player.

A Football Insider report says Everton are preparing to make an approach for Gnonto after completing a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam. The Merseyside club are said to have been closely monitoring Gnonto’s progress, having failed to land him in the summer transfer window last year. Sean Dyche’s side are believed to be looking for more attacking reinforcements after letting youngster Lewis Dobbin join Villa.

Gnonto flourished in the second half of the campaign as the Whites agonizingly missed out on promotion via the play-offs. He made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals.

Although Gnonto is under contract until the summer of 2027, United chairman Paraag Marathe has made it clear that exits are on the cards after the club failed to gain promotion back to the Premier League. It’s no secret Jack Harrison is returning to Everton for the second year in a row. The former England Under-21 international spent last season at Goodison Park, making 29 league appearances for the Toffees as they avoided the threat of relegation.

In addition to Gnonto, top clubs are also said to be chasing Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. There will no doubt be plenty of comings and goings at Elland Road in the coming weeks as Daniel Farke aims to build a squad capable of challenging for the title.
