Coventry named ‘best student city’ for its vibrant cultural scene’

Coventry has been ranked as the best student city in the Midlands. According to the QS Best Student Cities 2025 ranking, the city came first and was also ranked as the fourth best in the UK.

The city finished above Birmingham and Nottingham in the rankings and was named among London, Manchester and Newcastle as the top four in the country. Rankings are based on various factors, from student mix, university rankings, employer activity, desirability, student outlook and affordability.




The QS rankings say the city’s student population, international students and inclusion, scores very well on student mix, as well as a strong rating from graduate employers, with its “long history of leadership in manufacturing and design”.

As for why people should study in Coventry, the ranking says it has “good job prospects for graduates” as the city ranks 80th in the world for employer activity”, plus it has “rent and cost of living accessible”. They also added that the city offers a “vibrant cultural scene”, with a wide range of restaurants, nightclubs, shopping centres, cafes, plus entertainment and music venues.

He added: “Coventry is also known for being a major sporting centre. From football to rugby, ice hockey to netball, even if you’re not a sports fan, you’ll want to go watch. There are also various theaters and art galleries, as well as several large venues in and around the city, which are used for both music concerts and major sporting events.”

When asked to name the best thing about studying in Coventry, one respondent to the QS student survey described it as ‘a very friendly and multicultural city’ and that the city ‘feels safe, with low crime rates and ‘a high accessibility”.
