Cook the “perfect” fluffy rice every time with a simple method beloved by Gregg Wallace

If you’re struggling to cook rice and get that perfectly fluffy consistency, Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace has shared his expertise – and fans say it ‘works every time’.

Rice is one of the most popular foods around, with many countries using it in their cuisines. It’s also very cheap to buy a bag, making it a great kitchen addition.

And according to Gregg, a very simple formula works great to ensure you get a delicious batch of rice every time you cook it, and it can be tweaked depending on how much you need to make.

Sharing his tips on TikTok in a video that has garnered more than two million views and thousands of comments, he said rice is one of the most popular foods around, with half the world’s population often consuming it in their diet. He said, “This is the way to cook it, and once you’ve mastered it, it’s fabulous.”

According to the pro, the most important thing to remember is that for every cup of rice you cook, you’ll need two cups of water instead. So if you use two cups of rice, four cups of water will be enough to cook it.

He added his ingredients to a pot and stirred it before putting it on the fire, adding: “Bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat to very low and put the lid on the skew-whiff.

“And you just leave it. It should take about 15-20 minutes. Don’t stir it while it’s cooking, it’ll make everything gooey.”

After the time was up, Gregg showed off his pot of perfectly cooked rice before spooning it into a bowl and fluffing it with a fork. He added: “Boiled rice, nice, boiled. You don’t need those microwave bags anymore.”
