STEMFest is set to ignite the excitement in Bradford

Bradford is gearing up for a spectacular event as STEMFest makes its debut in the Yorkshire and Humber region this July. Hosted at the Life Center in Bradford and coordinated by the Yorkshire and Humber STEM Hub, this three-day event promises to capture young people’s imaginations and showcase the exciting possibilities in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) sectors.

Organized by RTC North, STEMFest will bring together approximately 50 local companies to offer hands-on activities and interactive sessions, highlighting the diverse range of careers available in STEM industries. This year’s event will explore new themes including space, digital, security and cyber, manufacturing and engineering and health and wellbeing. Each subject area is designed to provide enriching learning experiences for participating students.

The event is expected to attract around 1,000 young people from local schools each day, giving a wide audience a window into the fascinating world of STEM. One of the top highlights includes a special session with Jim Christensen, Chief Innovation Officer for the Aldrin Family Foundation. Christensen will engage students with his interactive hands-on learning session featuring maps of the Giant Moon and Mars, promising an unforgettable experience.

STEMFest Yorkshire has received generous support from a number of sponsors. Cummins, a global leader in energy technology, is the title sponsor, demonstrating its commitment to STEM education and outreach. Cummins’ involvement ensures that events like STEMFest can continue to inspire generations to come. In addition, Arla Foods, the UK’s largest dairy co-operative, will sponsor all catering during the event. Known for brands such as Arla Protein, Arla Cravendale and Lurpak, Arla Foods is dedicated to driving innovation and supporting the community.

Claire Willis, Team Leader at the North East and Yorkshire and Humber STEM Hub, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: “It’s the first time we’ve run a hands-on event like this in the Yorkshire and Humber region and it’s important that every young person are given the opportunity to engage in STEM, regardless of their background. STEMFest provides a fantastic opportunity for local students to familiarize themselves with the companies and careers available locally, as well as providing context for teachers to bring back into the classroom.”

With a range of exciting activities and special guests, STEMFest is set to be a landmark event for the region, inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders. For more information on STEMFest, visit stem-hub.co.uk.
