On-loan Hull FC striker Tiaki Chan has been included in France’s squad to face England

Tiaki Chan has been included in France’s 22-man squad to face England on Saturday. The 24-year-old forward is currently on loan at Hull FC from Wigan Warriors.

Chan has played four of the last five games for the Black and Whites after featuring twice for Wigan earlier this year. He signed a three-year contract with Matt Peet’s team before the season.

Hoping for another international cap, Chan made his senior debut for France against England last April as Shaun Wane’s side won 64-0 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warington. However, a tighter contest is expected this year.

The upcoming international competition in Toulouse on Saturday marks the 90th anniversary of French Rugby League, with head coach Laurent Frayssinous saying it is one of the best groups the French side have seen for some time.

The squad has over a dozen players from Catalans Dragaons, with ex-Hull FC defender Hakim Miloudi, now at London Broncos, also in the squad. Leeds Rhinos duo Mikael Goudemand and Justin Sangare are also named, as is Huddersfield Giants forward Hugo Salabio.

“This group to face England is certainly the best group the French team has seen for some time,” said Frayssinous. “It’s perfect for celebrating a 90th birthday.

“I know the players are keen to give their all to make the celebration great and make all the French players proud, as well as our 90-year heritage, even against one of the best teams in the world, which remains in one place. series win against Tonga last year.
