Eurovision fans notice a few problematic seconds in Olly Alexander’s performance

The Eurovision 2024 grand final is finally here – with 25 countries set to take part.

This year, Sweden is hosting the competition after its singer Loreen won in Liverpool last year. It’s also the 50th anniversary of Abba giving Sweden their first win with their song ‘Waterloo’.

Among the favorites to win this year is Baby Lasagne from Croatia with their song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”. Second favorite to win is Israeli singer Eden Golan.

The 20 countries that go through will be joined by the UK, Italy, France, Spain and Germany, otherwise known as the ‘Big Five’, who automatically qualify each year. Former Years and Years frontman Olly Alexander represented the UK tonight with his song Dizzy.

Based on her bold and vibrant performance, Eurovision fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts. Many noticed a “problem” as soon as he started singing.

One fan said: “I think Olly’s (UK) mic failed again like he did in rehearsal. I can only hope he did better for the judges as it wasn’t his best performance for #Eurovision.”
