Dad cut “on the face” in “cell phone row”

A shopkeeper was allegedly “slashed in the face” by a customer in line with a mobile phone.

Police were called to London Road in Liverpool city center at 4.37pm on Monday 24 June following reports of a man being stabbed with a knife. A cordon was set up outside the Mr Mobile store as police cordoned off the area.




A police spokesman said a shop occupier was reported to have been “attacked with a knife”. Police said the incident allegedly occurred following an altercation with a customer, known to the victim, over a cell phone.

Eyewitnesses at the scene told the ECHO the man was “slashed in the face” by a customer who had “brought his phone in to be repaired”. The store owner was taken to hospital with what police described as “superficial injuries”.

Several police cars were spotted on London Road after the incident, as well as an ambulance. Police said Monday night that the suspect remained at large.

Neighbors at the scene were very upset by what happened. Speaking to the ECHO, a local shopkeeper said of the victim: “He’s my friend. He’s the nicest guy around.
