Sheffield United given boost to sign target – New manager ready to offload player

Besiktas are ready to offload Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer and the former Liverpool and Arsenal player has been linked with a move to Sheffield United in recent weeks.

Takvim reported today on Besiktas’ transfer plans for this transfer window, with new sporting director Brad Friedel looking to sell. Oxlade-Chamberlain is said to be set for a return to his homeland after failing to make a real impact in his debut season in Turkey.

Again, Sheffield United are said to be interested in signing the 30-year-old attacking midfielder and are monitoring his situation in Istanbul.

Besiktas are reportedly eyeing Benfica’s Angel Di Maria, who would be seen as an ideal replacement for Oxlade-Chamberlain

Sheffield United should expect to face competition for the player after we covered reports last week that Southampton and Fulham are also looking to land him.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 30 appearances for the Super Lig side last season, scoring four goals. He is contracted to the club until June 2026.
