Wakefield general election voters reminded of photo ID rule

In the 4th of July general election, voters will, for the first time, need to take a photo ID in order to put an “x” in the box of their choice on the ballot paper.

From May 2023, voters must present a valid photo ID at polling stations to vote in person in most elections.

There are a total of 22 acceptable forms of ID that can be used to vote in England, Scotland and Wales.

BBC Yorkshire political editor James Vincent hit the streets of Wakefield to see if people there know about the new rules.
