‘In the name of…’ – Father of Leeds United talent confirms exit from Elland Road after trial by EFL rivals

Leeds United have confirmed on the retained list that U21 winger Keenan Carole will leave the club when his contract expires.

The 49ers front office at Elland Road has been strong in their 12 months in charge, with seamless recruitment and firm contract decisions.

Leeds’ retained list has confirmed a host of players released from the club, several of them youngsters who have not threatened to break into the senior ranks.

Keenan Carole confirms Leeds departure via father Seb

U21 winger Keenan Carole was among those confirmed to be leaving Elland Road when his contract expires on Sunday (June 30).

He is, of course, the son of former Leeds player Seb Carole, who played for the Whites from 2006-2008.

On behalf of his released son, Seb Carole shared this message on social media about Keenan’s endearing message for the club:

The youngster’s whereabouts after this outing are yet to be confirmed, but he recently spent a trial period in South Yorkshire with Sheffield Wednesday.

Youth in general was needed from the 49ers

The quality of Leeds’ academy has improved quite significantly over the last five years or so with their tier 1 status, and that has unfortunately meant that some players have failed to make the grade.

Carole was a key part of the youth team but never looked like he would be in the senior picture anytime soon and a move makes sense.

If he moves to a club like Wednesday, there’s a much better chance of him getting into their team than here.
