England progressed to the knockout stages of the European Championship as Group C winners but fans vented their frustration after Gareth Southgate’s side were held to a 0-0 draw by Slovenia.

The Euro 2020 runners-up have been widely criticized following an unconvincing start to a tournament they are favorites to win.

England dominated possession against a well-coached Slovenia but failed to turn their dominance into a morale-boosting victory as Tuesday’s game in Cologne ended goalless and with more groans.

However, that result, along with the stalemate between Denmark and Serbia, saw them top the group, meaning they will face a third-placed side in the last 16 on Sunday, June 30.

England – already assured of progress after Monday’s results – must wait another day to find out who awaits them in Gelsenkirchen, where they bounce back from a pair of frustrating draws.
