Derby County’s warning has been sent in relation to their pursuit of the Leicester City transfer

Carlton Palmer believes Daniel Iversen would be a very good signing for Derby County, bringing guaranteed Championship experience, but has warned his wages will be an obstacle to any deal this summer.

The Rams are keen on the Leicester City goalkeeper as they look for a new number one this summer after releasing Joe Wildsmith following promotion. But a potential problem arose with Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League with Iversen due to a raise following their return to the top flight.

Stoke boss Steven Schumacher said there was a contractual change as he considered whether to move for Iversen after his successful loan spell last season. Former England international Palmer told Football League World that while Iversen would be a good fit, he would not come cheap.

“Derby County and Paul Warne are looking to recruit some quality players when they return to the Championship next season. One area they need to address is the goalkeeper issue and they are looking at Daniel Iversen from Leicester,” Palmer said when speaking at Football. World League.

“He spent the second half of last season on loan at Stoke City, where he did very, very well. Leicester said they would loan him out again this season. The stumbling block is the substantial wage increase following Leicester’s promotion.
