Eurovision’s Bambie Thug issues a new message as Graham Norton warns viewers

Irish singer and Eurovision Song Contest entrant Bambie Thug issued a message at the end of their performance. In Saturday’s (May 11) finale, they said: “love will always triumph over hate.”

There was a question mark over whether the act would go ahead after they missed the dress rehearsal following a “situation” that required “urgent attention” from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Earlier on their Instagram story, they wrote: “Dear Coven, There was a situation while we were waiting to go on stage for the flag parade rehearsal that we felt needed urgent attention from the EBU – the EBU a took this issue seriously and we were in a discussion about the measures to be taken.

“That means I missed my dress rehearsal – I’m really sorry for the fans who came to see me. Hope to see you on stage tonight.” A statement from the European Broadcasting Union said: “We’re just looking at it.”

But the input from Ireland paid off in the end. TV presenter Graham Norton, who provides commentary for the BBC’s coverage, said the singer, who performed their song Doomsday Blue, was “expected to do extremely well”.

He said: “I’m not a parent but I might warn you that younger kids, I mean seriously, might find this performance a bit scary. Bambie Thug, such a great performer and Ireland have done a really good job of producing this year and this is going to do extremely well.”
