Live: Fire crews battle ‘large’ vehicle fire on A30

A “large” vehicle fire broke out on the A30 in Cornwall this morning (Wednesday 26 June). Several fire crews are battling the blaze on the A30 near Newquay.

A statement from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 04.48 on 26 June 2024, crews attended a large vehicle fire on the A30 eastbound in Mitchell.




“A hose reel and a dry powder extinguisher were used. Crews remain at the scene.”


Traffic is believed to be handling well despite the current lane closure. Roads and traffic monitoring website Inrix said: “One lane has been closed due to vehicle fire on the A30 eastbound from the A30 (Summercourt Central / Newquay Turn Off, Summercourt) to the A39 (Indian Queens) , Fraddon). The traffic is doing well.”

Details of the cause are not known at this time, but emergency services have been contacted for more information.

One lane has been closed due to a vehicle fire on the A30 eastbound from the A30 (Summercourt Central / Newquay Turn Off, Summercourt) to the A39 (Indian Queens, Fraddon). Traffic is doing well.
