Four Birmingham City matches could be moved due to international call-ups

Birmingham City have a number of fixtures that could be moved due to international call-ups.

The EFL handed the Blues their League One fixture list today and Chris Davies’ side will kick off with a home game against Reading. The clash with Royals has been moved to 5.30pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.

While this fixture is in no danger of changing, there are a number of Blues fixtures that could be postponed due to international call-ups. Unlike the Championship, Leagues One and Two are not entitled to international breaks during the season unless they have three or more players called up by their respective nations.

As things stand, the Blues have Paik Seung-ho, Jordan James and Juninho Bacuna who are used to their countries. Krystian Bielik and Koji Miyoshi also have international caps for Poland and Japan respectively. Talented teenager Romelle Donovan has also recently broken into the under-18 side.

If three Blues players are called up during any international window, the games they are due to play will be moved. According to the FIFA Men’s International Match Calendar, international competitions are scheduled for 1–9 September, 6–14 October and 10–18 November for the remainder of 2024. The final international window of the season is 23–31 March 2025.

The Blues’ trip to Exeter City is the first game in jeopardy. The game is currently scheduled for Saturday, September 7, but is subject to change. Below is a list of Blues games that could be affected by international fixtures…
