Man seriously injured in violent attack on M4 services in Wiltshire

A man has been seriously injured in a violent attack on the M4 services in Wiltshire.

Police were called to an assault on eastbound services at Leigh Delemere, near Chippenham, shortly before midnight on Tuesday (June 25).

The victim was treated outside the Travelodge by a member of the public before being taken to hospital. His injuries are said to be serious but not life-threatening.

Wiltshire Police have confirmed that a 36-year-old man is being held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

According to staff at the scene, the victim was “bottled up” – and suffered significant blood loss.

This morning (Wednesday), forensics were in attendance to photograph the area and comb for evidence.

The hotel’s main entrance and a patch of grass have been cordoned off as investigations continue. A bench – with two beer bottles and marker cones – is visible in the scene.

A detective was also present, while a uniformed police officer watched over the scene.

More to come.
