Coventry teenager who ignored M6 speeding fines ‘strongly condemned’

A Coventry teenager caught speeding three times has been slapped with a huge fine for ignoring police tickets and disqualified from driving. Warwickshire Police say Brijal Mardania was caught breaking the speed limit twice on the M6 at junction 3A and once on the A46 last year.

She ignored speeding tickets, known as Intentional Prosecution Notices, and was charged with failing to provide driver details. The 19-year-old was later found guilty in her absence at Leamington Magistrates’ Court on March 5 and the case was adjourned for sentencing.

At the same court on June 18, she was disqualified from driving for two years and fined £1,980. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £792 and costs of £110.00.

Speaking after the court case, a senior case worker Alex Barrett-Evans said Ms Mardania had shown “a complete lack of respect” for the legal system. “While most law-abiding people interact with our correspondence to reach an appropriate speeding outcome, not all drivers comply,” she said.

“This includes Brijal Mardania, who has shown a complete lack of respect for the legal system, and her sentence reflects this. Checks carried out at the time of the trial showed that Brijal Mardania was already disqualified until 16 April 2025 for a previous offense of failing to provide driver details.

“The court did not take this lightly and on top of nearly £3,000 in fines and fees, she was disqualified again for another two years. We hope that Brijal Mardania heeds this heavy sentence given by the court and chooses to take responsibility for his actions and change his ways.”
