Manchester United’s decision could give Liverpool a boost amid Barcelona’s ‘interest’ in Luis Diaz

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz continues to face speculation over his future at Anfield, with frequent links with a move to Barcelona.

The Spanish giants are continually linked with an interest in the Colombian after two impressive years on Merseyside. Diaz has been an eye-catching addition to the Reds’ arsenal and emerged with vital contributions during Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge at Anfield.

Diaz is currently in action for Colombia at the Copa America in the US, but speculation continues to be rife that he will remain in the English top flight as he enters the final two years of his current contract. Interest from Spain comes as no surprise following numerous reports in recent years, as well as Liverpool winning the race to sign him from FC Porto following interest from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Diaz’s father has been open about his son’s adoration for the Camp Nou club and last month the ECHO reported that even some around the club’s training ground were openly discussing the prospect of losing the 27-year-old this summer.

“The truth is I know very little about Barcelona at the moment,” Diaz snr told Win Sport in November. “It is true that Luis is a loyal fan of Barcelona and it would be his dream to go there. Until now I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they received him and received him.

“Luis is a player who finds it easy to win (the fans) because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication. He is a very disciplined player, thank God. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona for that it is a top team and one of the best in the world.”
