Leading two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has set up a new manufacturing facility in Manaus, Brazil. The facility was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of the Amazon state governor, other dignitaries, dealers and business partners. The Indian auto giant now sells its vehicles in 100 countries worldwide.

The facility in Manaus has an area of 9,600 square meters and a production capacity of 20,000 units per year in a single shift. It is equipped with engine assembly, vehicle assembly and testing facilities.

Bajaj Auto plans to further expand the facility in due course to accommodate an additional production capacity of up to 50,000 units per annum.

The Manaus facility was designed with automated production lines and integrated quality control systems, with multiple conveyors and transfer systems connecting different stages of production. The plant will initially focus on manufacturing the Dominar models and later the Pulsar models when they become available for introduction.

Work on the Manaus facility began in June 2023, and the plant became production-ready within a year. The initial phase focused on sourcing, assembling and testing Dominar models, with plans to expand to additional product lines.

The Manaus facility has obtained ISO certification for its production processes. Bajaj do Brasil, the Brazilian subsidiary of Bajaj Auto, has successfully integrated local suppliers and started sourcing key motorcycle parts and components from Manaus.
