Darwin Nunez is supported by the former Liverpool FC star as he celebrates the special update

Darwin Nunez was inundated with support as he kicked off his Copa America campaign in style.

The Liverpool FC striker scored a superb left-footed volley as Uruguay beat Panama 3-1. The win lifted La Celeste to the top of the group and Marcelo Bielsa’s side will look to build a good start when they face Bolivia. Friday.

It was a particularly special week for Nunez as his goalscoring performance came on his 25th birthday. He took to Instagram after the win to thank his followers for sending messages to mark the occasion.

A translation of the post read: “It was nice to celebrate 25 years representing Uruguay at the Copa America.” Nunez was well liked by some of his colleagues, including Adrian.

The goalkeeper said: “Happy birthday loco”. Former Reds player Maxi Rodriguez was another player who sent a message of support.

Alexis MacAllister was another Liverpool FC star who sent Nunez a birthday message. The midfielder was also in action in this summer’s Copa America for Argentina.

The Argentines started the tournament strongly, winning their first two matches. Argentina beat Chile 1-0 yesterday as Lautaro Martinez scored a late winner.

The midfielder’s partner Ailen Cova was in attendance at the Met Life Stadium and shared a photo of Mac Allister as he left the pitch.
