Adam Johnson death: Man back on bail after ice hockey player dies in Sheffield

A man who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of ice hockey player Adam Johnson in Sheffield has been released on bail again.

Nottingham Panthers player Adam Johnson tragically died aged just 29 during the Steelers v Panthers game on Saturday 28th October last year. He was hit in the neck by a blade during the game at Sheffield Arena.



The game was abandoned as the ice hockey star was taken to hospital. Johnson, from Minnesota, USA, was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination confirmed that he died of a neck injury.

In a statement, a South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A man arrested on November 14 last year on suspicion of manslaughter has since been released on bail. He was bailed again until 2 September 2024.

“Our investigation is ongoing and our thoughts remain with Adam’s family. If there are any developments in the investigation before the new bail date, they will be proactively published on the South Yorkshire Police website.”
