Who can I vote for in Runcorn and Helsby?

Runcorn and Helsby is a new constituency created for the 2024 general election.

People across the country will vote on July 4 in the first general election of 2019. The Labor Party is flying high in the opinion polls, with many people expecting Keir Starmer to become Prime Minister.

This election will see many new constituencies contested for the first time, following a review of boundaries last year. One of the newly created constituencies is Runcorn and Helsby, which covers part of Halton and Cheshire West & Chester.

The seat comprises a number of areas including Helsby, Frodsham and parts of Halton which were in the disbanded Weaver Vale constituency. Also includes Runcorn Town, Gowy Rural War (formerly in Ellesmere Port & Neston) and Guilden Sutton (formerly in Chester City).

Jade Marsden, who earlier this year ran unsuccessfully as a Conservative candidate in the Liverpool City Region metro mayoral election, will stand for the party in the seat in the general election. Mike Amesbury, who was Labor MP for the now-defunct Weaver Vale constituency from 2017 to 2024, will stand for the party in Runcorn and Helsby this year.
