Chocolate village named one of the most beautiful in Britain, with a 16th century pub

The charming village of Nether Compton in Dorset, just three hours’ drive from Coventry, has been recognized as one of Britain’s most beautiful hidden treasures. Despite its modest size and hidden location on a country lane, it caught the eye of Conde Nast Traveller, who included it in their list of the 20 most stunning villages in Britain and Ireland.

To discover this quiet sanctuary, home to around 300 residents, you’ll need to stray from the beaten path. But once there, you’ll be greeted with stunning views of the countryside and a charming country allure that makes the trip well worth it.

Conde Nast Traveler praised the village for its distinctive architectural feature – the local stone used in the construction of its buildings. They noted how “the sun yellows the stone deliciously,” casting a warm, welcoming glow over the entire village.

Set in a leafy valley, Nether Compton is a picturesque village boasting charming cottages, a community hall and a parish church with roots dating back to the 13th century. The area is an explorer’s paradise, offering many scenic walks through green landscapes and breathtaking views, reports Birmingham Live.
