Senior Engineer – Project Orders and Delivery x3 job with Sheffield City Council

To build on this ongoing change, the City’s Transport Service is looking to recruit 3 senior engineers to its transport projects team. We are looking for talented individuals, well experienced in the full range of transport project disciplines, who can use their ingenuity to develop conceptual solutions in often constrained highway situations where there are competing requirements. There is a strong focus on active travel and improvements to public transport networks, together with experience in more general traffic/road safety schemes.

Effective communication is fundamental to being able to develop infrastructure solutions that meet people’s needs, and the ability to competently engage with clients, stakeholders and customers is essential. The ability to work in a political environment is also expected.

Sheffield is looking for people who are familiar with current design standards and can interpret them to produce innovative solutions. These solutions must be developed with an understanding of the impact our projects have on the environment and climate.

The Transport Projects team uses an external detail design and construction partner through our Streets Ahead maintenance contract, so our focus is on concept and preliminary design development. However, there is an ongoing assurance role throughout the life of a project to ensure that concepts are delivered appropriately and outcomes are achieved.
