Nuneaton Hospital unveils plan to target ‘unsafe’ parking drivers

Nuneaton hospital car park has been slammed as rows of cars are left on the pavement. The situation around the George Eliot Hospital has caused some people to resort to the need to take to the road.

Cars were seen left parked on the Eliot Way pavement close to the hospital’s main entrance, as well as nearby staff car parks and Mary Ann Evans Hospice. It’s been causing problems for those mobility issues and strollers for the past few days.

CoventryLive raised its concerns with ‘Eliot, who said the situation was “unacceptable” and “unsafe”. A spokesman said enforcement action would be taken.

A hospital spokesman said: “We are experiencing significant pressure on our car parks, but this type of inconsiderate parking is unsafe and we apologize to patients or hospital staff who have been affected.

“We are in the process of introducing new ANPR controlled parking and enforcement measures which will help us manage the site more efficiently.

“In the meantime, we are asking drivers to think carefully about where they park and allow extra time when making a journey to hospital. Parking in such an unacceptable manner will risk a penalty notice.”
