Bluey’s Big Play is coming to Bristol Hippodrome

A play about the children’s show Bluey is coming to the Hippodrome this summer. Bluey’s Big Play will be at the Bristol Theater from August 15-18.

The 50-minute show is an all-new theatrical adaptation of the award-winning children’s television series, with an original story by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and new music by Bluey composer Joff Bush. In a press release, the group behind the track said: “Since its Australian release in 2018, Bluey has won millions of fans worldwide, is number one on CBeebies in the UK and has been broadcast on over 450 millions of times since then. has been released on BBC iPlayer.




“He has also had an incredible 5.7 billion lifetime views on his official Bluey YouTube channel portfolio. Now, fresh from tours in Australia and the US, global phenomenon Bluey comes to UK cinemas.

“As the first stage adaptation of the hugely successful Australian animated children’s show, Bluey’s Big Play expands the seven-minute episode format into a full theatrical production.”

Movable sets and actor-controlled puppets were said to bring the story and characters to life, with director Rose Myers saying they wanted to represent Bluey’s world.

“When people come to this show they want to see Bluey on stage and be in the room with her and her family,” she said.

“Since it began airing in 2018, the series has centered around the idea of ​​imaginative play with brilliantly observed moments of modern family life. Bluey’s Big Play reflects these themes with a story about Bluey’s mother Chilli and her relationship with her sister, which is woven into the relationship between Bluey’s sisters and Bingo, as well as a story about Bandit’s father who spends too much time on the phone when he should be playing with his children.”

The show features larger than life puppets to ensure that all children can have a good experience. The creators also wove in some fan favorite moments from the small screen.
