Leeds United star Georginio Rutter trains with £17.5million man at West Ham ahead of pre-season

Leeds United’s players are not due to return to pre-season training until early July, but many have posted pictures and videos on social media showing they are already at work.

Mateo Joseph, Sam Greenwood and Charlie Crew have been working hard in the off-season ahead of their return to Thorp Arch in a week’s time ahead of the club’s opener against Portsmouth.

Daniel Farke will have at least all of the summer to get on the training pitch with the squad and try to improve on what was such a brilliant season last term, until the final few weeks and the trip to Wembley.

Leeds are expected to welcome some new faces again, with Brenden Aaronson certain to return after a loan spell at Union Berlin. Greenwood looks like he could return this summer, with nothing revealed yet.

Farke will have a number of decisions to make to make the Leeds team that returns early next month look a lot different to the one that prepares to play Portsmouth at the end of the summer work.

While Leeds need to sell and the likes of Willy Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray continue to be eyed by bigger clubs, it may come as little surprise that Rutter is not linked with an exit.

The Frenchman is clearly looking to put last season’s failure to gain promotion behind him, having started training earlier this week, posting an Instagram video alongside West Ham’s £17.5m man Maxwell Cornet .

Why haven’t any clubs shown an interest in Leeds star Rutter yet?

Crysencio Summerville has almost half the Premier League chasing a move for him, while Nottingham Forest have submitted a £16.9m bid for Willy Gnonto, while Inter Milan are also said to want Gnonto.

But the reason they attracted interest is that they cost pennies in Leeds. Summerville, a fee of £1.3m as a teenager, and Gnonto slightly more at £3.8m, given the clubs plenty of profit to work with.

They can convince Leeds that they would still get huge returns from Gnonto and Dutch star Summerville but still manage to drop the price, but for Rutter it’s a completely different story.

The club record signing, who costs a fee of £35m, will not be sold at a discount by the club and who will realistically pay £40m or more for a player who has been excellent in the last quarter, albeit in the championship?
