Progress on the new entrance to Temple Meads in the latest Bristol planning applications

New air conditioning units could be installed for Temple Meads’ east entrance, according to new plans recently unveiled. Every week, Bristol City Council receives dozens of planning applications seeking permission for a range of developments.

In the past seven days, these applications have also included redeveloping a gas station and converting homeless housing for student use. Here’s this week’s roundup of notable planning applications submitted to the council.

Every week dozens are validated by the local authority and we have selected some of the most interesting proposals. All planning applications submitted to the council must be validated and are available for public inspection. Anyone is also allowed to submit comments on the applications, either in support or objection.

Most applications are decided by council planning officers under delegated powers. However, some will go before elected councilors who sit on planning committees. No dates have been set for the determination of the planning applications below. These can be viewed by accessing the planning portal on Bristol City Council’s website.

Homeless housing converted for student use

A shared house in Brislington, which is currently used to provide accommodation for homeless people, could be converted for use by students. The house on Wick Road will undergo internal renovations and in planning documents its owners said the change of tenants would “resolve problems with neighbours”.
